BTS Jimin’s ‘face’ Surpasses 200 Million Streams on Melon.. The Only Record for a K-pop Solo Album in 2023
BTS member Jimin has proven his solid presence in the domestic market through his solo album.
Jimin’s album ‘FACE’ surpassed 200 million streams on Melon, the largest music platform in Korea, just six months after its release on September 25th. This is the only record among this year’s solo albums by K-pop solo artists.
As of September 26th, the original version of the title track ‘Like Crazy’ has reached 78.9 million streams, the English version has reached 15.7 million streams, ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’ has reached 44 million streams, ‘Face-off’ has reached 26.4 million streams, ‘Alone’ has reached 24.3 million streams, and ‘Interlude: Dive’ has reached 11.9 million streams, totaling over 212 million streams.
Jimin’s album ‘Face’ recorded 1 million streams in just 6 hours and 50 minutes upon its release, and 29.61 million streams in 24 hours, making it the album with the highest number of streams within 24 hours by a Korean solo artist, earning a spot in Melon’s Hall of Fame.
Additionally, Jimin directly participated in the lyrics, composition, and production of the entire ‘Face’ album, showcasing his authenticity as an artist. All the songs from the album entered the Melon Top 100 chart immediately after its release, setting an unprecedented record for a male solo K-pop artist.
Especially Jimin achieved the remarkable feat of being the first K-pop idol solo artist to graduate with honors after topping the Melon Weekly Popularity Award for four consecutive weeks (from the 5th week of March to the 3rd week of April) with “Like Crazy” since the March 2022 revamp. Prior to that, he also reached the top spot with “Set Me Free Part 2” in the 4th week of March, establishing an astonishing record of five consecutive weeks at #1.
After debuting solo with his first album, “Face,” after 10 years, Jimin became the first Korean solo artist to top the Billboard Main Singles Chart, “Hot 100,” not only gaining strong support from fans overseas but also demonstrating his popularity and influence as a solo artist in the domestic market.
