Twice’s Misamo Holds Pop-Up Gallery in Japan..Exhibits Unreleased Photos
TWICE’s first unit group MISAMO, consisting of members Mina, Sana, and Momo, opened a pop-up gallery in Tokyo, Japan.
JYP Entertainment, their agency, is operating the MISAMO pop-up gallery “Masterpiece” in Shibuya, Tokyo from August 30 to September 3. The gallery is designed to provide fans with a rich experience by showcasing the activities of MISAMO, which debuted in Japan on July 26 with their album “Masterpiece.”
As the name suggests, the gallery is decorated with a “masterpiece” and “famous painting” concept, and features a variety of merchandise as well as photo zones with unpublished photos, costumes worn by the three members in music videos, and autographed items. The gallery is receiving a great response from visitors as a fun place to enjoy diverse album content.
The title track “Do not touch” from Missamo’s debut album “Masterpiece” is an R&B genre song that showcases the seductive charm of members Mina, Sana, and Momo. Park Jin-young, the representative producer of JYP Entertainment, wrote the lyrics and expressed the three members as art pieces with a concept based on the warning sign “Do not touch” in art museums. With Missamo’s fantastic synergy and a musical message of “hoping everyone will treat themselves as noble and valuable beings,” the unit received wide love from domestic and international listeners.
With their Japanese mini-album “Masterpiece,” Missamo proved their hot popularity and presence by topping various music charts. According to the official Oricon website on August 1, Missamo’s album “Masterpiece” sold 155,000 copies in its first week and reached No.1 on the Oricon weekly album ranking (July 24-30, 2023). This made Missamo the first female Japanese artist in 2023 to achieve the highest first-week sales record. They also topped the real-time album ranking on Japan’s Line Music Top 100 Albums and Japan’s iTunes Store album ranking on July 26. On the same day, they also topped the iTunes album charts in 22 other regions overseas, including Japan, Singapore, and Turkey, as well as the WorldWide iTunes album charts on July 25 and 26, demonstrating their strong global influence.
