Seventeen to perform at Japan’s ‘NHK MUSIC EXPO 2023’.. Expanding their global presence
K-pop boy group Seventeen (consisting of members S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino) will appear on a special Japanese music program that highlights artists who are active on the world stage.
On the 3rd, the Japanese public broadcaster NHK announced that Seventeen, who set a record for the highest K-pop sales with 6.2 million copies sold with their mini 10th album “FML” released in April this year, will perform a special stage of their new song “Ima -Even if the world ends tomorrow- (今 -明日 世界が終わっても-)” on the “NHK MUSIC EXPO 2023” which will be broadcast on the 14th at 10 pm.
NHK added, “Seventeen’s Woozi will have a special talk with Japanese singer Yorushika,” raising expectations.
“NHK MUSIC EXPO 2023” is a special live show where top artists who are active on the world stage come together to exchange music, and a special collaboration program between K-pop and J-pop.
Seventeen achieved the feat of selling over 500,000 copies in the first week for two consecutive works as the first foreign artist with their first Japanese best album “ALWAYS YOURS”, and is gaining tremendous popularity as their albums “FML” (552,000 copies) and “ALWAYS YOURS” (512,000 copies) have conquered the top 2 spots for first week album sales by foreign artists in 2023.
Meanwhile, Seventeen is preparing for their largest-scale Japanese dome tour “SEVENTEEN TOUR ‘FOLLOW’ TO JAPAN” since their debut. “SEVENTEEN TOUR ‘FOLLOW’ TO JAPAN” will be held in five cities in Japan, including Tokyo Dome on September 6-7, Saitama’s MetLife Dome on November 23-24, Nagoya’s Pia Arena MM on November 30 and December 2-3, Osaka’s Kyocera Dome on December 7 and 9-10, and Fukuoka’s PayPay Dome on December 16-17.
