군백기 없다..방탄소년단 ‘봄날’ 6년 만 역주행, 83개 지역 깜짝 1위 그룹 방탄소년단(BTS, RM 진 슈가 제이홉 지민 뷔 정국)의 ‘봄날’이 6년 만에 또 한번 글로벌 차트를 강타했다. 지난 13일 일본 오리콘 차트가 발표한 ‘데일리 디지털 싱글 랭킹'(12월 12일 자)에서 방탄소년단이 2017년 발매한 ‘WINGS 외전: YOU NEVER WALK ALONE’의 타이틀곡 ‘봄날’이 깜짝 1위에 올랐다. 이 차트의 순위권 밖에 자리했던 ‘봄날’이 순위가 급상승하며 1위로 직행한 것이다. 또한 ‘봄날’은 12일부터 14일 오전 8시까지 기준으로 미국, 일본, 독일, 영국, 프랑스 등을 비롯해 총 83개 국가/지역의 아이튠즈 ‘톱 송’ 차트 1위를 찍었다. 다수의 국가/지역 ‘톱 송’ 차트에서 연말을 맞아 캐럴(Carol) 장르가 강세를 보이는 가운데, 머라이어 캐리(Mariah Carey)의 메가 히트곡 ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’를 제치고 ‘봄날’이 차트 정상에 올라 눈길을 끈다. 이 같은 ‘봄날’의 역주행에는 아미(ARMY. 팬덤명)의 저력이 있었다. 지난 12일부로 전원 군 복무에 돌입한 방탄소년단의 오는 2025년 완전체 활동을 기다리는 팬들의 따뜻한 마음이 차트에 반영된 것으로 예상된다. 한편, ‘봄날’은 브릿 록(Brit-rock)적인 감성과 일렉트로닉 사운드가 결합된 얼터너티브 힙합(Alternative hip-hop) 장르의 곡으로, RM과 슈가가 작곡에 참여해 멀어진 친구와의 만남을 기다리며 희망을 잃지 않겠다는 메시지를 곡에 담았다. JYP Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as JYP) rookie girl group VCHA (Lexi, Cage, Camila, Savannah, Kaili, Kendall) has topped the YouTube Worldwide Trending chart with their pre-debut single title track ‘Y.O.Universe’.

As of 8 a.m. on the 23rd, the music video for ‘Y.O.Universe’ reached over 1.71 million views on YouTube and ranked first on the Worldwide Trending chart. It ranked in the top 10 on the YouTube overall trending chart, including 5th in the United States, 7th in Brazil, and 8th in Canada, and entered the rankings in 33 regions worldwide.

VCHA is a six-member rookie girl group selected through the global girl group launching project ‘A2K’ (America2Korea), a collaboration between JYP and Republic Records. On the 22nd, ‘A2K’ concluded with its 22nd episode, and to commemorate this, they simultaneously released their pre-debut single ‘SeVit (NEW LIGHT)’ and the title track ‘Y.O.Universe’ worldwide on the same day.

The final episode of ‘A2K’ broadcasted on the same day reached 6th place on the YouTube trending chart in the United States, and VCHA’s first stage performance on KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’ also reached 11th place, showing great interest in VCHA’s first steps into the global pop market.

‘Y.O.Universe’ is an uptempo pop song that incorporates the series and the girls’ stories from ‘A2K’ and delivers the message that “we are special because we are all different.” It was written and composed by Cirkut, including Park Jin-young and Sam Smith’s Grammy-winning producer for “Unholy.” The music video expresses the personal stories and aspirations of the six members of VCHA.

The pre-debut single ‘SeVit (NEW LIGHT)’ carries the meaning of “new light” and also represents a strong organic connection with the team name. The single includes three tracks that were showcased in the final gateway of ‘A2K’, including the title track ‘Y.O.Universe’, ‘Go Getter’, and ‘Know Me Like That’, all sung by the six members.

In July of this year, JYP launched ‘A2K’ through its official YouTube channel, setting sail for a large-scale project. With the goal of debuting a global girl group based on the first K-pop training system in North America, JYP’s leader Park Jin-young served as an audition judge and selected and nurtured participants from major cities in the United States such as Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Dallas, LA, as well as the LA Boot Camp and finally in Korea.

Having produced Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, ITZY, NiziU, and NMIXX, and being known as the “girl group powerhouse,” JYP is expected to write another groundbreaking new history in the global pop market with the birth of VCHA.

In particular, VCHA, affiliated with JYP USA, the U.S. branch of JYP, plans to grow as a “global K-pop artist” with comprehensive cooperation from Republic Records, the NO.1 label in the United States selected by Billboard under Universal Music. Their localization in the North American market and global strategies towards them have attracted attention.
