BTS’s Jimin earns his first ‘gold single’ in Canada with his Korean solo song ‘Like Crazy’ after 10 years of its release.
BTS’s Jimin has shown his strong solo power and global popularity in Canada.
Jimin’s “Like Crazy” has received the first-ever “Gold Single” certification for a Korean solo song in the past 10 years from Music Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Recording Industry Association, CRIA).
Music Canada is a non-profit organization that represents companies involved in the recording, manufacturing, and distribution of music in Canada, and rates them as gold, platinum, multi-platinum, diamond, etc. based on digital and physical album sales and TEA (track-equivalent albums) conversions.
‘Like Crazy’ is particularly noteworthy for its significant achievement in overcoming the limits and barriers of non-English music, recording over 40,000 units in sales in Canada and obtaining the first gold single certification in 10 years among Korean solo songs.
Earlier, Jimin’s ‘Face’ entered the top 10 of the Canadian album chart, becoming the first Korean solo album to do so in the past 10 years. The title track ‘Like Crazy’ debuted at 21st on the Billboard Canada Hot 100, predicting a record-breaking gold certification with four consecutive weeks on the chart for a Korean solo song.
Furthermore, he achieved the remarkable feat of having two songs chart simultaneously as the first Korean male solo artist with “Set Me Free Pt2” and “Angel Pt.1,” an OST for the Hollywood blockbuster “Fast and Furious 10,” as well as the collaboration track “Vibe” with Taeyang, making a total of 4 songs and 9 chart entries this year alone, setting the record for the highest charting Korean solo artist.
Additionally, in “Digital Song Sales,” he demonstrated his powerful solo power by charting all the tracks from “Faces” (“Like Crazy,” “Set Me Free Pt2,” “Off My Face,” “Alone,” “Interlude: Dive”) along with “Vibe,” “With You,” “Promise,” “Christmas Love,” and “Angel Pt.1,” for a total of 10 songs on the charts.
Meanwhile, Jimin’s solo song “Filter” was the only solo track from BTS’s fourth full-length album in 2020 to enter the Billboard Canada Hot 100 (at 88th place), showing his exceptional popularity and proving the power of sincere music as he receives global love, including from Canada, with his explosive solo album release.
