BTS Jungkook’s ‘Seven’ tops two major global Billboard charts for three consecutive weeks.. a new record as the first and longest by a solo Asian artist.
BTS’s Jungkook has been shining with exceptional popularity by topping the two major global charts of Billboard for three consecutive weeks.
Jungkook’s solo single ‘Seven’ topped the Billboard ‘Global 200’ chart on August 12th.
On the ‘Global 200’ chart, which aggregates online streaming and digital sales from over 200 countries around the world, ‘Seven’ recorded 124.3 million streams and 14,000 sales, taking the top spot.
Furthermore, “Seven” also topped the “Global” chart (excluding the United States) on August 12, with 110 million streams and 5,000 sales.
Particularly, Jungkook has proven himself to be a “global trend pop star” by maintaining the top spot for three consecutive weeks on both the “Global 200” and “Global” (excluding the United States) charts, which are considered as major charts along with the Billboard main singles chart “Hot 100”, making him the first and longest-running Asian solo artist to achieve this feat.
In its third week, “Seven” showed impressive streaming numbers, surpassing popular songs by worldwide artists such as Travis Scott x Drake’s “Meltdown”, Nicki Minaj x Ice Spice’s “Barbie World”, Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” to sweep the top spot on both charts.
Previously, “Seven” made a remarkable achievement in K-pop history by entering and immediately reaching the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which is considered the highest authority in the American music industry, and staying in the top 10 for two consecutive weeks. In the issue dated August 12, it continued to stay on the Hot 100 chart for three consecutive weeks, ranking at No. 30, and also reached No. 20 on the Pop Airplay chart and No. 25 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart.
Furthermore, “Seven” set a debut record by becoming the solo artist with the most weekly streaming on the Billboard Global 200 chart, with 217.1 million streams, and the artist with the most weekly sales worldwide, both as a group and as a solo artist, with 269,000 copies sold.
